Information On Biodegradable Products & Materials
Biodegradable is a term derived from biodegradation. The objects or things that undergo the process of biodegradation are known as biodegradable products. Biodegradable is any thing organic that can be broken down by the enzymes produced by living organisms. Organic material can be degraded aerobically, with oxygen, or anaerobically, without oxygen. Biodegradable is another problem. One you can try is from the Alconox Corporation, called Citranox, which is a citric acid solution plus a wetter.
Biodegradable or compostable packaging in communities without commercial composting may end up in the landfill where anaerobic digestion produces methane-a very potent greenhouse gas. On the plus side, in the many communities that burn their waste, the environmental impact of most biodegradables has about the same impact as burning food or yard waste. Biodegradable products, made from materials such as corn, wheat, and potato starch, are commercially available from several manufacturers. To see a list of compostable utensils, flatware, and food/yard collection bags, please see Biodegradable Products on the food composting page. Biodegradability, which is determined by measuring the actual metabolic conversion of the compostable material into carbon dioxide. This property is quantitatively measured using the standard test method, EN 14046 (which is also published as ISO 14855: biodegradability under controlled composting conditions).
There are all kinds of promotional products available which have been manufacturered from biodegradable materials. These becoming a popular choice within the industry. Biodegradable bags, are one of these biodegradable products are proving extremely popular.
